Why isn't my pest control website showing up on Google?

A pest control website usually fails to show up for one of three reasons. Google has not indexed it yet, the site has a single services page trying to cover every treatment, or the Google Business Profile and the site disagree about what you do and where. Check indexing first — a new site can take a few weeks. After that, the fix is almost always more pages.

First, check whether Google has the site at all

Search Google for your domain with “site:” in front of it, with no space. If nothing comes back, Google does not have the pages yet and no amount of rewriting will help until it does.

A brand-new site commonly takes a few weeks to get indexed, and that is normal rather than a fault. Verify the site in Google Search Console and submit the sitemap, which is the fastest honest way to move it along.

One services page cannot rank for every treatment

Termites, bed bugs, rodents, mosquitoes, and wildlife are separate searches by people with separate problems. A single page listing all of them is not clearly about any one of them, so it competes for all of them and wins none.

Give the treatments you want more of their own URLs, and name the towns you drive to on those pages. That is the single change that moves the most pest control sites, and it is why page count and ranking are related rather than a size upsell.

When the profile and the website disagree

If the Google Business Profile lists categories, hours, or service areas that the website contradicts, you are asking Google to trust two different stories about the same company.

Get them saying the same thing: the same services, the same towns, the same hours, the same phone number. A one-time profile cleanup is $250 if you would rather not sort it out yourself.

  • Categories and services on the profile match the pages on the site
  • Service areas are towns you will actually drive to
  • The phone number is identical in both places, digit for digit
  • Photos are from your jobs, not stock images of insects

Pages have to be live before the season starts

Pest demand arrives on a schedule that most trades do not get. Ants and termite swarms come with spring, wasps and hornets peak in late summer, and mice move indoors with the first hard cold snap.

A page published the week the calls start will not be ranking in time to catch them. Get the page for a given pest up and indexed weeks ahead of its season instead. That timing is most of what our monthly SEO work is spent on, and it is the part owners are most often surprised by.
